Do you have a favorite color to scrap with? Do you lean to brights, neutrals, or maybe pastels? What about patterns - big or small? Faint or bold?

I tend to use a mix of bright and neutral colors. Not usually pastels. I do like blues, and pinks. I don't use oranges or purples as much.

I also tend to use smaller patterns, and faint or low opacity patterns. I also blend and then change the coloring at times. I often use a solid background, or have a blended pattern into a solid background. I just find it comfortable, calming. lol! If that makes sense?!

What about you?

I love neutral solid backgrounds and the blue color. I like small patterns and it's hard for me to mix several patterned papers on a page.

I've found that I accidentally end up with yellow-green-blue a lot on pages for my son. His favorite color is red so no idea why it turns out like that. I tend to gravitate to black or wood-motif backgrounds a lot. If I'm scrapping the Milky Way, I have a lot of the lavender but usually not the peachy color that the heart of our galaxy is. (The more you know!) I'm going through a phase where I either layer patterns over a coordinating solid or turn them into vellum to 'calm them down' a little.

I totally agree about the "calm them down," lol! I think thats why I blend and change the opacity.

I hadn't really given this much thought - but I just looked at my completed layouts from the last few years and it seems I'm a pops of color on a white or gray solid or lightly textured background most of the time. Good to know! I'm gonna try and mix in more blacks and other colors, and try to use more patterned papers which I always LOVE but feel like I'm not great at making work on a page beyond a small paper strip or something. Hmm, new challenge for myself!

Blue is my all time fav color! I like neutral too! If patterns don't mix well, I take forever trying to put them together!

I find that I tend to gravitate towards monochromatic or a max of 3 colors. I tend to use softer colors more often, but really love all colors.

I do think I like monochromatic coloring too! It's easy and flows so nicely!

Black paper is one that I actually hardly ever use. I find my shadows always look wonky! And I am the same way with patterns, I have a tough time mixing them if they are too "much."

Nothing wrong with Vanilla! I think it's better knowing what you like than struggling to make something work!

I am a fan of color - in scrapbooking, but in real life too. With that said, I do like a white or neutral background quite often, with some pops of color. My gallery here so far is pretty neutral in my book, but I'm working on something packed with color. 🙂

I too use white background frequently - when I don't it's usually that the designer had a great wood or neutral in there 😄

This is me too.  As much as I love colour and don't use it very often

I love this question.  As much as I love colours and just can't put many colours together when scrapbooking.  My backgrounds are nearly always white and I love the colours black, kraft and a bit of yellow.  I tend to have a very minimal style which goes with my "not having too many patterns" thing.  I find red a very hard colour to use unless is for Christmas.

unless it matches my pictures, I’m not always a bold color user myself!

I’m more of a collage artist as a scrapbooker and art journal enthusiast. It’s taken me a long time to get comfortable with color, but after years of practice and experimentation, I’m not afraid to go full on maximalism! I don’t mind pushing the envelope and using a dark backdrop. I actually hope to see more memory keepers utilizing unusual colored backgrounds - they pop beautifully!

I find it helpful to get acquainted with a wide color palette by mixing papers and patterns together at my desk before jumping into the creative process. It’s almost like putting together a mood board. Prep is my best friend!

I do a lot of pages for my regular weekly planner and those are all over the place - I'll use any kind of kit in any color but prefer something that has journaling cards.  Otherwise, I'm mostly a weekly project life kinda planner and for those, I tend toward bright colors but am generally looking for something that coordinates with the photos. That can be a challenge since it's usually an eclectic mix of photos!

In a way I do this too... I bring a whole slew of patterns and solids into PS... then move and layer them until I find the right combo. I always need a solid paper though, lol! A quirk!

I love looking at pages that have lots of colour.  I really envy anyone who can use lots of colours.
